My name is Viktoria Rebeka, I am a dj and producer of electronic music from Slovenia. My style is dark, deep minimal with techy elements…
As I was born, my parents opened a 24/7 restaurant-bar business build into our house and we were one of the first families to have satellite television, so I grew up with listening to MTV, channel always tuned in. Since early childhood I was expressing myself with rhythm and sound while attending music & dance classes and performing in a rhythm group to tracks from the 80’s. When about 16 years old, I discovered electronic music and was mainly listening to a local electronic music radio.
I find inspiration in daily things, for example in the weather or the mood I am in… I suppose I am influenced by my fellow music producer friends, like for example my partner in QOMT project Miss Sunshine.
Right now I finished a remix for the Berlin based label Frucht and will start to work on a remix for Brickwork records. I will also finish a track for my solo EP, as well as start to work on the QOMT project release together with Miss Sunshine.
Future releases are remixes for Cirque du Minimaliste, Moleskine, Fach, Frucht and Brickwork as well as my next solo EPs with remixes. Also upcoming is the first release with Miss Sunshine together as QOMT project, that will come out on vinly for Zingiber Audio. Looking very much forward to that! In october I will move from Slovenia to Berlin, so regarding the touring, I hope to have many gigs in Germany for end of this year. :)
I played at the official Exit Festival after party in Novi Sad, just after the b2b of Richie Hawtin with Dubfire and Loco Dice with Magda! It was an amazing morning!
When someone buys a track, you can’t really follow the track passing on to other people, so it is stupid to think that everyone will buy music, when they can get it for free. I put a lot of work and effort to make a track and it is not nice to see that people don’t respect that and just put the tracks on free download, but anyway, it’s unstoppable!
If you are starting to produce, be patient and all will come with time and you will develop your own sound! For the djs, first try turntables, then cds and then go to play digital! Afterwards nothing can surprise you! Try to feel the crowd when you are playing, get their attention and then move them to where you want them to be. But the most important of all – enjoy what you do! If you love something, the time and effort you invest in it will always bare fruits!
